PortMaster 3 T1/PRI Provisioning


In order for the PortMaster 3 to work correctly, you must supply your ISDN service provider with specific ISDN setting information. This document suggests the most common (default) configuration for ISDN PRI provisioning.

Your ISDN service provider will want to know:

One way or two way service?

One way service is for inbound calling only. Two way service is for both in/outbound calling.

Alternating Circuit-Switched Voice and Circuit-Switched Data or Circuit-Switched Data Only?

Alternating Circuit-Switched Voice and Circuit-Switched Data supports ISDN and modem calls. Circuit-Switched Data only supports ISDN calls.

How many directory numbers?

Request one phone number with all B channels hunting.

What Line Framing Type?

Extended Super Frame (ESF). The PortMaster 3 supports ESF and D4 for T1/PRI and CRC4, FAS for E1/PRI.

What Line Encoding Type?

B8ZS. The PortMaster 3 supports AMI and B8ZS for T1/PRI and AMI and HDB3 for E1/PRI.

Do you want Non Facility Associated Signaling (NFAS)?

No. The PortMaster 3 does not support NFAS.

What type of jack?

RJ-48C.

PortMaster 3

The PortMaster 3 supports the following ISDN switches: 5ESS, DMS-100, NET5, ITR6, NTT, KDD and NI2. It is also equipped with an internal Channel Service Unit (CSU) and can be directly connected, with the Lucent supplied line cord, to the telco provided wall jack. The PortMaster 3 provides support for fractional T1/E1 circuits for Leased line and Frame Relay applications.
