HI

The problem you are describing is similar to the one we had at our remote
POP's off older switches. What happened here is the modem lights would go
out. Completely dead, turn the modem off and on again and it was OK till
next time.

I occurs when ever the telco reverses polarity on the line. I am not a
telco genius, but we could reproduce the problem with the telco line techs,
test receiver.

I don't know of a cure, but if possibly the telco could change the way that
they terminate (end) the call, that might help.
