Well, the first thing is that every single LT Winmodem with the 5.44
firmware I have done says "Lucent Winmodem", not "LT Winmodem" and
works...

That would seem to indicate that a firmware update is needed from
www.lucent.com... what are the ATI responses... check the firmware
revision number... if it's less than 5.44, upgrade the modem first.
