The one I'm dealing with at the moment (got the customer to bring her
computer into our office) responds with:

ATI3=V2.061-V34_ACF_DP1
ATI6=RCV336DPFSP Rev 44BC

Windows identifies the modem as "V.34bis
par,Voice,Speakerphone,MediaLink,Plug&Play"

I tried your AT+A8E=,,,1 in Hyperterminal and received an ERROR

Another of the problem modems Windows identifies as an "Acer 28.8 V34
datafax f1128hv-r6" responds with:

ATI3=V1.309-V34_DP
ATI6=RCV288DPI Rev 05BA

Both of these modems are in Packard Bell computers. I unfortunately do not
have any other ATI3/6 responses at the moment, but if you wish I will send
them when I have a few more collected.

Police in Wichita, Kansas, arrested a 22-year-old man at an airport hotel
after he tried to pass two (counterfeit) $16 bills.
