The way we have it configured here is that so long as it connects anywhere
into the same bank of PM3's, it's fine, so as long as I connect from home
into our portmaster number, I have no problems. (I do use shotgun at
home... or at least did until I installed Win98se.) I suppose this won't
help much from the portmaster side of things (I do the customer support, I
don't setup the server machines), but shotgun's no different than what you'd
do for multilink.
