These cheapo modems seem to be flourishing everywhere, and they are causing
99% of all our problems in support..
I tested one (PCI) for a client... I lowered the baud rate to 38400 (from
115200), and that seemed to solve problems. I was staying connected while
putting the system under stress (which is why the modem disconnects, it
seems...). It _did_ disconnect anyway after about 10-20 minutes in all of my
tests.
We only offer 33600bps anyway, so 38400 works fine with us...
