having trouble with yet ANOTHER HSP modem that can't seem to connect to
our portmaster 3s. this time the offender is a PCTEL HSP MICROMODEM -
distributed by Zoltrix .. here's the ATI response:
HSP MicroModem 56
ATI1 A97/CO2
ATI2 OK
ATI3 PCtel 7.63-9CMS
ATI4 PCtel Data/Fax/Voice/Speakerphone/V....
ATI5 OK
ATI6 OK
ATI7 OK
AT + FCLA...0,1,8
i've tried forcing a connection at v.34, k56Flex and v.90, v.90 at 28.8
and v.34 at 2400 bps manage to make it as far as the login: prompt
before being disconnected. last night, i used the string
AT&F&C1&D2&K3W1 (which I found at modemhelp.org) and the customer
managed to connect. she remained connected for 10 to 15 minutes before
voluntarily logging off (it didn't disconnect on her.) 30 minutes
later, when she tried to reconnect, the modems could not establish a
connection again.
Zoltrix being the wonderful purveyor of quality hardware that it is,
doesn't have ATI responses to match the modem directly on their site -
i.e. I can't be sure that she's got the most recent drivers installed,
because I can't find out which drivers she's supposed to have installed
in the first place. i'm waiting for word back from them.
hoping that someone out there has battled this particular brand of demon
before.
thank you.
