First join the PM modem list ;)
Second since it's pre-v90/K56Flex it probably hates the v.8 tone (it's
been awhile so it might actually be a v.8bis tone *shrug*)
The way to get around this is use from 1-6 commas after the dialing number
aka the comma trick.
5551212,,, should be the number dialed as an example.
the commas will have the modem pause, so it needs to be tailored to be
just enough to ignore the initial tone.
