(PMOD) LAPM Disconnects vrs PPP Terminate Requests on PM3

We have noticed that some systems, particularly NT,
cause a Disconnect cause of LAPM Disconnect whereas
most (about 50% plus) terminate with a PPP Terminate
Request. We run about 4% of sessions with a LAPM Disconnect
vrs some 55% with the PPP Term Req.

On our other RAS servers (Bay 5399's) the NT disconnects
come up as their equivalent of "Call Circuit Closed"
which is worse as its not distingusihable from true
bad disconnects.

My understanding is that the LAPM stuff is the protocol
between the 2 modems and the NT system doesnt ever see that
layer, and can only talk at the PPP layer. I think that the
modems send the LAPM disconnect when the host system drops
DTR.

Can someone clarify the situation with LAPM disconnects and
NT's behaviour ? (Do all NT disconnects show this ? It
SEEMs they do but I'm not 100% sure).

Why can the PM3 discriminate this cause and the 5399 not ?

What other scenarios produce a LAPM disconnect ? (or can
we rely on this figure as a guide to the percentage of
NT sessions to us in fact ?)

regards .. Peter
