Hayes go out of the modem business (well out of business all together)
before they received the client code that prefered Flex over V.90.

For Lucent Controller based clients, S109 sets the V.90 preference.

S109=0 disables V.90
S109=1 (default) preference depends on the release
S109=2 prefers V.90

By the way, S38 controls 56K in general
S38=0 disables 56K (Flex and V.90)
S38=1 enables 56K

For Lucent Controller-less clients (LTWINMODEMS)
-V90=0 disables V.90
-V90=1 enables V.90
S38=0 disables Flex
S38=1 enables Flex

The preference is built into the release.

Don't complain to me that they are different.
I work with the server side.
