Okay, I added the line into hosts.equiv.
I am still getting the Host Currently Unavailable message *sigh*
the peculiar thing is, though, I can rlogin to my host through
the adminstrator account on the portmaster. As well, if I
define a user in the portmaster users table, it seems to login
properly, but fails upon trying to login to the default host (the linux
box.)

- telnet works
- rlogin works
- ping works
- traceroute works
- pmlogin DOESN'T work and gives me the _same_ currently unavailable
message.*

This is bizarre...

/etc/hosts.equiv is set
/etc/raddb/clients is set with he right secret (and on the portmaster)
/etc/raddb/users is set
/etc/radiusd _is_ running.

I am confounded :(
