On SCO v5 (at least the US version), applications that wish to access user
passwords must make a call to set_auth_parameters as the very first thing
they do in their main() procedure. If you dont, you wont be able to access
the protected password databases. See the manual pages for
set_auth_parameters for details.

(I have not tried to compile Radius on SCO, but I have been working on some
applications recently that required access to the user passwords.)
