I forget your error message, but do you have an /etc/shells file?
Which version of RADIUS? Which version of AIX?
If you run with an empty authfile, make sure you do not have any
Authentication-Type = Realm
entries in your users file...
The "-r 1" option could be removed if you suspect long delay times
getting from your AIX machine to your AIX machine... ;^)
