Radius Authentication through the Internet

I have two sites using the same radius server. Site A has a Livingston
Portmaster and the Radius Server (NT) , site B has the portmaster which
authenticates users using the Radius at site A (through the Internet). I
am having what I believe is a timeout problem, sometimes when users try
to login they get a login prompt but then it waits for a while and says
authentication failed. Is there a timeout parameter for the Livingston?
