| Subject: RAdius Probs.. help..
| Hi all,
| I am getting this weird error when I try to start radius manually..
| # ./etc/radiusd -d /radius -a /radius/adm/radacct
| I get the following error
| /etc/radiusd: No such service: radius/udp
| This is running on SunOS and am running NIS but am trying to run this
| locally rather then through the NIS master server..
| We have this in our services file:
| radius 1645/udp radiusd # Radius software for
| Livingston Portmaster
| radacct 1646/udp
| We have this in our inetd.conf file. This I'm not too sure about..
| # For radius daemon
| radius/1 dgram rpc/udp wait root /etc/radiusd rpc.radiusd
| We also have this in our rc.local
| # Start RADIUS
| if [ -f /etc/radiusd ]; then
| echo "RADIUS"
| /etc/radiusd -d /radius -a /radius/adm/radacct
| I've installed radius on other Suns and no problems, what is happening? I'm
| not to up on NIS services so...
| Any help greatly appreciated..
| Thanks a bunch,

If by "SunOS", you mean "SunOS 4.X", you cannot use both NIS
and files. If ypbind is running, local files are not consulted (with
some minor exceptions, like passwd, but services is not one of them).
You must put the entry in the nis sevices map or choose not to run NIS
(i.e. must kill ypbind). If you mean "SunOS 5.X", then you must make
sure that the "files" and "nis" keywords appear in the "services" entry
in /etc/nsswitch.conf _without_ the [NOTFOUND=return] clause between
them.
