I been reading your FAQ on subnetting and trying to apply it
to my situation with little luck. I was wondering if you would
mind answering a couple of questions.
Here's the gory details:
We're running 2 PM2e30's and a Cisco 2501. We are running Livingston
RADIUS (1.16 I believe). Our class C is 206.136.138 and we're running
a mask of 255.255.255.0 internally.
Recently we added 2 dedicated accounts that are require subnetting.
One account was given a .240 mask and the other a .248
I'll just use one (.240) as the example since they both have the same
problem:
This account was given a mask of 206.136.138.240 and the network of
206.136.138.64
In RADIUS I added the user account with the Framed-Address of 206.136.138.50
and a Framed-Netmask (I think that's the field name) of 255.255.255.240
Router IP 206.136.138.1
PM IP 206.136.138.10
Remote PPP IP 206.136.138.50
Remote Card IP 206.136.138.65
Remote Mask 255.255.255.240
While I can traceroute from our network to 206.136.138.50, I cannot get to
any IP's on the .64 network.
I added a static 206.136.138.64 206.136.138.50 1 on the PM
>From the PM I cannot traceroute to anything on the .64 network. I have tried
various different ways, but with no luck.
I know I have to also add a static in the Cisco ... I can up with these
commands:
conf term
ip route 206.136.138.64 255.255.255.240 206.136.138.10
end
write
I figured I'd wrestle with the Cisco after getting the PM to recognize
the .64 net ...
Any ideas/suggestions/etc would really be appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
