Abuse, again!

PLEASE do something about these people! I have received at least half a
dozen pieces of mail from this company via interramp.com addresses.

Can I suggest working with Livingston, Cisco, and the other terminal
server manufacturers to design a TCP filter that will count the number of
smtp connections and disconnect after, say, 100? This wouldn't affect
legitimate PPP users, but would certainly cut down the possibilities for
this kind of abuse. Since Livingston (and, I assume, everyone else) can
already do TCP-based packet filtering, a counter like this shouldn't be
too hard to add.

A filter-based solution would force companies like this one to get their
own dedicated Internet connections and manage their own mail servers --
and clean up their own messes. You could remove the filter on a per-login
basis if need be.

Apologies for the multiplicity of addresses, but "postmaster" isn't often
a real person these days.

Thank you,
-- Bruce Toback

PS. to portmaster list: would anyone else be interested in having this
feature?
