I agree they're a poor choice...but we have 64 of these in our modem pool
(we stopped adding them long ago) and total failures have been very few.
I think we sent back 1 or 2 DOA and 1 or 2 that died eventually. They get
better connect rates than the Digicom rack we bought. When we fill the
rack, it will be a toss up between buying MP/16's or another Digicom rack.
The real problem with sportsters is the lockups. I have to power cycle
modems occasionally...but the Digicom does this too :(
