Thanks to all for suggestions. It turned out that SECURITY was not on for
these ports. I am much puzzled as to (1) why PM worked at all, and (2)
why it became sensitive to calling modem type. But it works like a champ
now! And the 33.6 upgrade burn for the SupraFax288s (v1.440 -18) is
delivering better connect rates than the old code.
