That might be the first problem. I seem to recall 1.2 being listed as
unstable in this list serv some time back. Could be wrong.

Sounds like a dns mismatch with your linefeed. I would check to see if
his dns tables list the appropriate machines. A cyclic period indicates a
routine. If he's updating his tables every half hour he might have the
wrong configuration and the update might be confusing your router.

we use bsdi 2.1 with a primary and secondary nameserver. When our
primiary went out the secondary had a wrong config, just one itsy bitsy
little number, and manage to take out the entire system. Maybe check your
config file again.
