We use the fact that one doesn't need a shell or a home directory to
receive POP mail, so all we have are two entries, on in the passwd
and one in the shadow file, which look like

funny:x:548:100:Funny Man - POP Only Account:/dev/null:/bin/true

So the mail is only stored in /var/spool/mail/funny

(Yes, this is a bogus user :))
