So you want Livingston to make a new revision and change their code, so
that YOU dont have to deal with it? That seems like you are trying to
shift the burden of fixing the problem to someone else.
However, lets try to get back to your problem. You say that the script
sends a few carriage returns before it starts. Why? Is it because you
cannot get the login prompt to come up? And I just tried it on my PM 2's
and I get this:
login:
login:
login:
login:
It appears that it is NOT going to password: but you said yours was?
What com os are you running?
Here is the PM I tested:
Livingston PortMaster PM-2 ComOS 3.5
System uptime is 24 days 20 hours 42 minutes

Why dont you have your PPP users authenticate with PAP? I dont think I
have ANY users still using scripts. Win 95, and Trumpet Winsock both can
deal with this. Then you never have to worry with scripts.
Or if you have users that are using a script to dial in for shell access,
you should perhaps just make a sample script for them and mail it to them,
or have them download it. It wouldnt be THAT hard to get people to change
to it.
