We are running that version on BSDI 2.1 and it never crashes. And there
is no way a program running on a protected mode OS should be able to crash
the whole machine. Since I have to guess I am guessing you have a
hardware problem, probably memory. My own bias is towards ECC memory as
the only possible memory arrangement in a server. I see far to many
people thinking that a Server must be fast, and in fact the most important
thing a server needs to be is reliable.
