rlogin works quite well for this solution. It's not quite as
efficient as using the portmaster protocol, obviuously, but I've been
using it here with no problems. (I'd have already said this, but forgot
to CC the list. :-) Just be sure to enable hardware handshaking between
the modem and the portmaster. To be polite to the user, put the
portmaster in the /etc/hosts.equiv file. It may be necessary to create a
.rhosts file for them so they can rlogin without needing to enter the
password.
