The PortMaster doesn't require the DTE rate to be locked; it'll happily
autobaud if you set the 3 different speeds. But with all modern modems
its better to lock the DTE rate. Many modern modems lock the DTE rate
when you do the &w - a few require &b1 or some other thing to be set.
