The number of repeaters on a line should have NO effect on the quality of
the analog signal comming out of the channels. If the line is over 1
mile long the Telco will install repeaters, Each repeater will push the
signal another mile. Echo only occurs when you put a repeater on an
analog circuit.

So long as you get a good signal from the Telco and can maintain accurate
clocking. You should have NO problem with a T1 line quality. Are you
seeing a lot of Framing errors or Frame slips?
