Umm, how about just not giving out the password to your Portmasters? I and
3 other people here have the !root password, and we all now know about
this bug. Granted, that's not the solution to the real problem, but it
should not be a risk at all if your password is secure.

This reasoning is logical. ;-) I agree, it's a bug and a big one, if you
do this one certain thing that is a little (a lot?) out of the ordinary.
But it still needs to be addressed, and I'm sure the engineers at
Livingston have gotten word of the bug and are right now working on a fix.
