Seriously, the in.pmd is a unix daemon that sits between the PortMaster
and the Unix machine and makes the ports on a PortMaster appear as local
devices on said Unix machine. Unfortunately, because of history I'd rather
not get into here, the program is only supported on a limited number of
platforms. Those include:
SunOS 4.x
Solaris 2.4
Ultrix 4.3
AIX 3.2.5
HP/UX 9.x

And that's about the list. Don't get me started on what it *should* include,
suffice to say that's where we are today. Please. Please?
