I have quite a few Mac users with GV modems who are having no trouble
talking PPP to my PM2E's. I just pick an init string for them from
http://www.mcp.com/hayden/iskm/modems.html
and have them configure flow control as CTS only

Modems on my end are Couriers in some cases, Sportsters in others.

Macs can be a bitch when they are used with ARA or FAX software, but
this is independent of modem. Macs are different; if you fight them
you lose, but if you set out to learn them, they work fine.

Learning to deal with them is part of the job. It doesn't mean you
have to like them; I sure don't.
