We are finding that a PM will dial a dial-on-demand link when it has a
packet that will not make it through the filters anyway.
More detail:
We are experimenting with a dialout-on-demand link to a client. That is,
when we get traffic for that client we have one of our Portmasters
dialout to them. For security reasons, there are quite stringent filters
associated with their "location".
However - if I ping that client from a host that is excluded by the
filters, the PM will still dial the client. The connection gets
established, but the filter doesn't let the pings through. So - a total
waste of time to dial the connection!
Can anyone throw any light on this issue?
