I have tested a number of TCP/IP stacks with a PM-2er and a 5-port ISDN board.
The ones tested include: FTP's, TGV's, Frontier's, Spry and Softronics. None of
them will give you the functionality you are looking for (i.e. on-demand dialing
with dynamic IP address assignment). They all miss a critical piece which you
can call a "virtual" dialer. I would love to be proven wrong on this, but I
called all of the vendors listed above and Netmanage (whose package I did not
test). They all confirmed my test results.
The only exception to the above is if you have a dedicated connection with a
static IP address on the ISP side). In this case, FTP's PCTCP should work (with
considerable help from FTP). TGV's upcoming Multinet 2.0 should also work (again
with a lot of help from the vendor). Of the others, I think Frontier's Super TCP
should work.
