-DNOSHADOW is not connected to shadow passwords, it is connected to he
shadow.h file. Some systems have it, most do not. If you system DOES
have a shadow.h, then you remove the flagt

No, it does not add 30 days to the expiration, it sets it 30 days from
today. So if their expiration is still 10 days off it does not get bumped
to 40 days, it gets bumped to 30 days.

I believe you can set it to 0, but I don't know what effect that would
have.
