Gryphon, want to join me in bitching about MT modems?
In my time at Xylogics and Livingston one modem brand has produced more
headaches than any other - even Zoom - and that is MT. They lose their
speed settings at random, they crosstalk, they generate spurious interrupts,
they refuse to talk to other modems for no reason I've been able to determine,
they use a command set that strives to be different from everyone else.
They just don't seem to be able to retain their settings in production. Sure
I've seen a few lucky sites, but when I hear the words "We're using
Multitech modems" I cringe, I know I'm in for a hellish time. I actively
steer people away from MT modems every chance I get, just to spare myself,
them, and any other poor sap who might someday get a support call from them.
All in all they just plain suck, especially the racks.
