Framed-Netmask vs. netmask table

Ok, after all of the recent subnetting threads which I read through last
night, I'm still a little confused about Framed-Netmask vs. the netmask table:

You use a Framed-Netmask in the user's RADIUS entry when passing a subnet to
that dial-up user. So far, no need for the netmask table.

However, when is a Framed-Netmask no longer sufficient by itself to the
point that you have to use the netmask table on the PM as well? Is it when
you are attempting to pass multiple subnets to different users on the same
(or different) PMs? Is this correct and/or are there other reasons and/or
am I totally wrong in my current understanding of the situation.

TIA
-Gil
