In an effort to decrease the size of my users file, I would like to
use default entries. All my users are PPP, at least all the validate via
radius. All have the same set up, with the exception of some static IPs.
However, passwords are set directly in the users file, not from a UNIX
password file. Can I still use Default settings to decrease this file size?
If I need to switch to a UNIX password file is there anything special I need
to know (i.e - can I use a shadowed password system) and dose anyone know of
an easy way to convert 800+ radius users into my unix system?
I am running 1 portmaster PM2e and 3 PM2eRs (We had used the ERs for
routers, but switched to a Cisco 2505 So the PM2eRs are just working like
PM2es). Each one is a 30port model, and all are wired, though we are not
using all yet. We are using Usrobotics Total Control MP16s. I heard there
was a disconnect problem with these, and a fix for that problem. Since we
are experiencing disconnects, this is more than little interest. Also, where
can I get the OS 3.3.1c1 as this is said to help that problem as well.
Also, is there anyplace that I can get some good, comprehensive
documentation on RADIUS. I have it working, fairly well, but still have some
questions.
Since it seems to take a long time for RADIUS to read its user file,
especially when you have 800+ entries, would this be improved by the
addition of a Memory file system, and keeping a copy of users there? Cutting
out the access time? We are experiencing problems during peek periods with
user logins, which I was told may be due to an over-taxed RADIUS system. Any
other ways I can reduce or eliminate this as a problem?
Lastly, and I promise to shut up for a while, is there a FAQ for
this list? I have seen no mention.
