I have an Cisco router at one end of a T1 WAN link (Main Office) and a
IRX-114 at the other (remote office). I would like to have it so the IRX
will dial into the cisco (AUX port?) via a standard modem/pots line (s2
on the IRX) if the T1 on port (s1) fails. Right now we have a seperate router,
csu/dsu and backup 56k but that seems a bit excessive and we want to use the
equipment elsewhere. I am wondering how to set it up so it routes to the
backup modem automatically. I read through the manual and know how to set up
a dial location but I am unable to find how to set it up to use that location
if the T1 fails. The section concerning the high-water mark is somewhat
vague when it comes to dial backup. Also, the IP addressing scheme for a
scenario like that is a bit unclear. Would I use the same IP address for the
dial link and the WAN link (since the WAN link would be down) or would they
need to be seperate with RIP telling where to find the gateway. The IRX
uses PPP on the WAN link and the address on s1 is the address of the
cisco's ppp s1 interface.
Thanks all!
Sincerely,
Dave Munroe
