I use:
AT&F1&C1&D2S0=1S13=1&W
on all of my USR modems. With this init string I have never had to power
cycle my modems and don't get cannot connect problems. Some say that the
S13=1 is the default and unnecessary, but before I added it I was having
all kinds of problems. Of course YMMV.
