Now, I'm using the lower (.0) subnet for my machines, including the portmasters
and each portmaster has an entry in the subnet table of
'205.150.79.0 255.255.255.224' and my Cisco has static routes for all the
subnets pointing at the Portmasters which in turn are talking to each other
via RIP. Working like a charm for the dynamic dial-up users too.
Now I want to send two of the remaining subnets out through ISDN lines to
routers at the other end. Should I assign the routers at the remote ends
addresses within the lower subnet and route the networks (in this case .192
and .224) through those addresses or is it OK to assign the routers addresses
within the subnet that they manage ?
I'm just wonderring if it is improper form to try and route a network into
an element of itself.
(ie. in the 2E : add route 205.150.79.192 205.150.79.193, where .193 is the
address of their router (A Pipeline 50))
Proxy ARP perhaps ?
