Simple question, I'm sure.
We're providing dial-up accounts to the Internet using the Livingston PM2E
communications server.
I've a little bit of a concern of one user, who I've been told, installs
'sniffers' on "The Net."
I'm also "up to snuff" enough to know any software application has to have
the ability to have the 'ethernet' nic/address go into 'passive' mode to be
able to monitor packetts on the network that the PM2E is connected to. As I
mentioned above, I'm new to the Livingston product, though.
Is this possible?
To simplify this question; Can one of the users who use our PM2E, install a
sniffer on our network and watch the information passing back and forth on
our local net? Worse yet, can they have the ability to monitor the other
ports too, on the Livingston-connected network?
Thank you.
