Farallon Nettopia router to BitsurferPro on PM2E?

Has anyone had any luck getting a Farallon Nettopia router to talk to
a BitsurferPro attached to a portmaster 2e's async port? All I ever
see on the portmaster is the user PPP (in caps) establishing connection. I
never see any record for the actual username that is supposeto be sent by
PAP.

Also, Anyone have anything to say on the advantages of National ISDN-1
vrs 5ESS P-to-P or Multipoint? Im wondering if its worth hassling
Pacific Bell for all National ISDN-1 BRI's? My lines off the DMS100 are
currently National, but the 5ESS lines are configured point-to-point ATT
Custom. Ive been told the #5 switch can do NI-1.
