Lost Carrier does not necessarily mean a problem - Trumpet for example
disconnects by simply hanging up - giving a Lost Carrier.

All Lost Carrier means is that the modem dropped DCD and that signals us to
reset the port. So you should be looking to see why the modem would drop
DCD.
