We have had some pretty bad luck with the entire Sportster line. In the
past month we have sent in over TWENTY modems. The first batch of 11 we
sent in they just sent us 9 brand new ones in a box and 2 of those failed
in less than a week. The auto answer light goes out and they refuse to
answer any more. Every time I send a batch in a bunch more go. They've
been dropping like flies. Inits and fans and such just don't help. Almost
all suffer from the same couple problems, won't answer (manual power reset
fixes very temp.) or won't respond at all. I have another batch of 5 on my
desk now that I have to call and get SRO#s for and I'm still waiting on 11
still in service (for almost 3 weeks!!). It's getting bad.
Like they've been saying it seems to be comming down to the fact that it's a
consumer product and not built for the 7x24 that we're using them for.
We're looking into the Netserver/16's or Couriers at least. I haven't had
any problems with the Couriers we have. They just keep plugging away.
