Windows 95 is the culprit 95% of the time. We have noticed a few trends.
1) The connection ALWAYS hangs when trying
ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/doom/win95/doom95.zip
2) We substituted one one our GVC modems with a USR Sporster V.34 and
voila, the hang problem was gone (although we had to tinker with the init
string a bit).
3) Upon changing the MTU (from 1500 to 562) on the port, we were able to
accelerate the problem (ie. almost immediate hang) ??
We have e-mailed the President of GVC and HOPE that we get a reply soon
(as we have invested in a few GVC modems and hate to have to GIVE them
away!!).
