We support subnetting of any bit number. Just only one at a time per
network. Ie, one class C can be 4 bit and another 3, but one class C can't
be partially 4 and partially 3. At least until the current beta code is
released, which will support that.

I assume you mean the lowest subnet - ie split a network into 4 subnets and
you can't use the first one.

That is an old, old, old rule that is outdated. It doesn't apply to modern
networking equipment. Even on Ciscos you can 'ip subnet-zero' to turn on
support to use the first subnet.
