HylaFAX, nettty & BSD/OS

Has anyone gotten the nettty program for Livingston Portmasters to work
under BSD/OS 2.1?

It compiles and runs, but doesn't seem to contact the portmaster.

I started it like this:

nettty -d /dev/ttys0 -s webersat.check.net -p 7300

If I run a program like "kermit" and connect to /dev/ttys0, nothing happens.
It appears that nettty is not connecting to the portmaster. (neither the
host nor the portmaster show a network connection)

If I do a "telnet webersat.check.net 7300" it connects just fine and I
can talk to one of the available modems on the pool on that port.

I would like the nettty functionality so I can tell HylaFAX to use these for
outgoing faxes.

...ideally, I would like to change faxq in HylaFAX so it can connect to a
TCP port on a host and just talk to the modem that is there. ...probably
just steal the code from Kermit, which does this exact thing. But thats a
few weeks of work I don't have. Sigh!
