I have a similar problem with a new version of the GVC modem, this is a
voice/fax modem. What happens is when I have &d3 set and I reset the port
on the PM, the modem will enter a contiues reset cycle. Nothing that I
can do will stop it, even powering off and on does not break the cycle.
When &d2 is used - no problems, the same modems on a Unix getty have no
such problem. What is the portmaster doing to induce this behavior. Also
while the modem is reseting I get termination cause logged of carrier
lost. This is strange since no connection exists on the modem at that
time.

The old GVC have no problems and are rock steady.

Is it possible that the portmaster is too agressive with looking at the
number of interupts that are comming from the modem when its reseting and
decides to reset the modem which starts the cycle.

BTW to be able to break the cycle I have to unplug the serial cable,
powercycle the modem, then after its ready to plug the serial cable
again. From then the modem is fine until a reset is done.
