Christ on a pointed stick. I thought Livingston was free from this
marketing bullshit.
All well, I'm not switching to radius 2.0 anyway, and I'm using Ascends
for all of my dialup now so I don't have to deal with this.
Anyone up for putting out a FreeRadius package derived from the 1.16
source tree? With Merit doing similar things with the licensing on
their LAS stuff it would almost be worth the effort. I'd bet we can match
Livingston feature for feature and do lots of other nifty stuff as well.
In my bag I've got:
- Prefixed logins for unix auth'ed users. (SCP patches, and
adding something like user[#$%&]service wouldn't be hard either.
- PPP PAP autodetection (for prefixless PPP logins)
- Livingston Portmaster, US Robotics Netserver, and Ascend compatibility.
(anyone have a Computone box I could get some detail files and -x output
from?)
- Open accounts
- Group based account restrictions. (I need to make this use config files
of some sort instead of being compile time.)
- Multiple login restriction (I need to rework mine a bit)
- Static IP per port. (S1 = x.x.x.1, S2 = x.x.x.2 etc...)
- Extended login failure reporting.
- Account locking support. (billing lock, admin lock etc...)
I'm also planning on finishing my external auth stuff (Auth from database
or external file.) and adding some syslog features so the phone firewalls
will be able to debug user problems easier.
I also need to clean a bit of my code up for general consumption, but it
won't take too much effort.
I'll probably get some patches from a friend that allow large
installations to read the entire password file (or relevant parts of it)
into memory for FAST lookups.
Anyone interested in adding support for loging detail information to a
database? (mSQL, Postgres95 etc?)
I've also considered breaking the auth and accounting servers up into two
separate programs.
Anyhow, now that I've shot my mouth off, anyone interested?
Oh, and Megazone, I still love you even if you have sold out to 'the man'.
Be good.
