It works fine - all of our boxes are running it, as are a great many users.
It sounds like the FLASH was corrupted during the upgrade - that could cause
the behavior you are seeing. And if that is the case, downgrading won't
help - it may appear to be ok at first, but you'll trip over something sooner
or later. With corrupted flash the only solution is to reformat and
reconfigure.
