If it was an RMA it wasn't just munged FLASH, it would have been an actual
HW failure of a FLASH chip.

If the unit is running 3.3.2 or up, yes. If you apply an image from 3.3.1
it will almost certainly cause errors. The image layout is not the same.
3.3.2 reorganized FLASH to deal with the PM-2i and PM-2ei and the new HW
involved in those units.
