Cisco/Portmaster ISDN interoperability problems

I'm working to connect a customer's CiscoPro2524 to a PM2e via the
BRI ports on each. Both ends are up and work with different hardware,
so it must be something that I've overlooked.

In the LCP and IPCP negotiations, it seems to not really be trying
to authenticate. Is it proper to use CHAP for ISDN and not PAP ?
Is anyone else using a cisco to connect to non-cisco ISDN hardware?

In order to keep this message short, the various configs and debugging
are available to anyone willing to help at http://www.ibs-us.net/problem/
